Empty space suits are sometimes thrown out of the International Space Station for experimental reasons, like this one in 2006.
Suitsat-1 was a Russian Orlan spacesuit fitted with a faint radio transmitter.
This is also sometimes done when a suit is damaged or retired.

I’ve gotten solid feedback on this episode of @npub10qr...xqj8 with @npub13nd...0svh (and of course some saying they didn’t like it one bit).
I’ve learned that the vast majority of Bitcoiners just want moonboi Bitcoin NGU hopium mixed with macro death-of-the-dollar doom porn. How do I know this? Because I see which episodes get the most traction. Bitcoiners may say they want “different guests and opinions” on Bitcoin podcasts, but their actions tell a very different story… The numbers are clear. That’s why even though Saylor has done 69,420 podcasts and everyone has listened to countless hours of him, the majority of people will still watch any new Saylor conversation over some lesser-known person. This isn’t a dig on Saylor, it’s just reality.
That said, if you are one of the minority of Bitcoiners who enjoys having your preconceived notions challenged, and have the ability to approach uncomfortable topics with an open mind, I encourage you to check out this conversation with John.

i decided to go up the street and have some beer and stake sammich
it was nice
i fed a little of the veal stake to my favourite shop stray #catstr chikita, as well as giving her some nice ... well, the nicest thing i could find, some actual gravy with chunks of tuna
plus of course some cheesy biscuits
she is getting more and more familiar with me, she doesn't bat my fingers when i try to touch her now
gave me a good opportunity to watch her and she has the dark eye secretion and a bit of the yellow stain on her paws, and the more obvious tongue out thing... only difference with her is her laryngitis
but she several times managed to make a note as she spoke to me, sometimes surprisingly
anyway
too many things to think about
i almost wasn't gonna turn on the computer but then i saw #mochi wanted some dindins so i gave him the best of the new things i found... well, i saw them before but now i look at the label and look for the one that shows chunks of tuna in a gravy, that seems to be nearly decent, not just jelly and meat so soft you could cut it with a credit card
mochi is enjoying a can of that now also
if humans won't appreciate what i do then i'll find some small animals who will
i know there is some nice humans that appreciate me and i do my best there but the little animals appreciate the attention and care in a very concrete way and i need some of that
if nobody is bettered by your actions then you are worthless

lazy humans like to feed #catstr shitty food like grain and dry based biscuits and pressure cooked soggy soft meats
but cats actually prefer food that they have to tear apart and they enjoy cleaning surfaces covered in traces of butter and meats
and another thing
when you feed a cat on chewy meats, that you brined as you should, they drink more water, which improves their kidney function, because the salt makes them thirsty, and that reduces the risk of developing kidney disease, which is a major plague of domestic cats fed on those shitty foods that "vets" shill for their "pet food" manufacturer sponsors.

it is a pleasure to watch a #catstr tearing apart a proper chewy piece of meat
i almost denied him his afternoon eating to give to the stray up the street but now i'm like... damn, i gotta do something about my wood supply
these simple pit spits don't have under-ventilation so normal charcoal is useless without some serious amounts of fuel or something
ok, maybe fuel, maybe i just get lots of fuel to get my coals glowing
it's gonna take a while to figure this out because i don't have a ready supply of seasoned, segmented logs to work with, or any clue where to get them any time soon

been making a bunch of revisions to https://protocol.realy.lol - my "reimagining" of the nostr protocol
still some ways to go before i'm finished revising the message format and i've realised that i need to eliminate message headers for requests with actual RESTful HTTP paths, because these headers on the requests are really redundant if they are tied to a specific "endpoint"
REST doesn't say anything about the use of push-enabling websockets, so it's not quite a REST protocol but for everything that fits that model it's REST
at some point in the day after i have done a bunch of tedious work these days and caring for my kitteh i feel the need to completely break from the routine so i'm going to play some more immersive game than the kingdom 2 crowns i play in between bouts of nostr and work on this stuff
i think i'm getting better at managing two separate streams with my work stuff (did a little bit on it today) and my pet project/#gitcitadel related work
lunch is coming up imminently also, and partly i am becoming aware of this because i'm feeling a bit antsy and my cat is now eating the last bit of beef chunks left in his bowl... i might put another piece on
#realy is pretty much at MVP grade for me now, late beta, and it needs a big code review and refactoring but nobody's paying me for that and it works and is giving me a direct personal benefit in combination with https://jumble.social #jumble for having better control over the social comms in my life
life is getting better
i'm sure it will continue to get better, also, because i'm listening to the feedback

i just had a comical experience with #mochi the #catstr just now
i put out some of these char grilled beef chunks for him to eat, and the window was open and a bunch of noisy buzzy bumble-flies came in and started harassing him because meat
he fully freaked out over the flies, to the point where he was retreating to the stairs to hide from them while i was trying to locate and eliminate these pieces of shit fucking hate these things also
me and mochi have a lot in common, two things being high sensory acuity
his is typical to the species but he is sick at the moment so like me he is also irritable
yes, the main reason why i'm so bitey and jumpy is because i'm sick, and congrats, assholes, because this means i'm even more determined than ever in my life to purge your shitty arses from existence like i did to the two stupid bumble flies
not necessarily by killing you, that would be a bit weird and excessive, when i can just shut you out
and if it was my property, this cottage, it would have insect screens on every window yesterday, and there would not be flies
we get a few mosqquitoes here, but not many, idk why, probably because it's a bit too cold for their life cycle, but there is some, and they are very annoying when they show up to bug me when i'm sleeping, and leave their injection wounds all over my exposed skin
it was just funny as hell tho, i mean, sad, again, to watch the cat being distressed but funny also because his behaviour was so sympatico to my own feeling towards these pests
me and my mochi are gonna make our own little space in the world, and he is so sympatico to me that he is helping me focus on the important things that make the biggest impacts
you may think it's just some livestock but cats are so intelligent that they can be something even more connected than even dogs emotionally
he learns things so fast, that i just say words now that i have trained him to associate with places and parts of my body and bam he's on it like lightning, when i say his name, and he is asleep, he wakes up and ears point at me and sleepy eyes look towards me
i have a special affinity with cats, i think, because i have top percentile sensory acuity, inherited via my mother's family line
this round of learning how to live with one, which i have aspired to having a cat for a long time, is really coming full circle though, he's teaching me as much as i am teaching him

i have come to the conclusion that my #catstr #mochi is suffering from, i think, throat in fection, or flu-like illness
feeding him chewy char grilled beef is definitely helping him clear up his gingevitis, his tongue is less exposed now after the last week of regular chewy things, he is actually eating less, in total, but wanting food less, at the same time, and basically quite sure that he doesn't want to go outside
well, i'm going to listen to what he is telling me, so i'm not making him go outside for a while
i'm going to clean and bleach his bedding, white towels tied down over the upside-down couch he adopted as his bed, because he drools on it and the yellow staining i see on his feet and especially back leg are the same color as the drool, and it reminds me of the dark yellow goop that comes along with a throat infection
so it's probably mainly a throat infection, but it was synergising with his gum infection (gingevitis)
i took that collar off him, since wearing it the color of the mucus leaking out of his eyes has got a lot darker, which i don't think is good, so probably it's just battering his immune system, so that went in the trash
the chewy beef food is definitely helping him heal, the amount of yellow staining his lower parts where it's coming from his sick mucus-laden mouth and throat is definitely now reducing
the other thing i've started doing is i load up a clean tissue with some 3% peroxide and give his eyes and ears a good wipe
the eye wiping really irritates him, i suppose the peroxide is a little irritating on contact but it definitely kills off the bacteria associated with the parasites... oh yes, so it's probably a sinus infection actually
he has definitely got ear mites, but now i think about it, the yellow goop, the dark yellow mucus from the eyes, and the stain, all are consistent with an infection inside his sinus cavity
it may be that this is making him more vulnerable to the ear mites, but in any case, it is definitely a good thing to give his ears a little wipe and some peroxide to cut back the strain of the secondary infections caused by the mites eating his ears
i have also been taking pieces of the char grilled beef up to feed his little cousin the new wave lady who haunts the supermarket
she loves those chunks, and behaves exactly the same way as mochi with them, sits there for 20 minutes just to eat two pieces that in total weigh about 50g
she has some of the same issues, the gingevitis and possibly the ear mites but she hasn't got the sinus infection, she is pretty clean white all the way down
but i bet if i just drop her some beef every other day and she eats something chewy that massages her gums up well and gives her some good fats and nutrients and salt that she will also start to look even more healthy and maybe get a bit more friendly
female cats with gingevitis are extremely cranky, i used to have this cute medium hair black fluffy years ago in australia and she was mostly ok while i was caring for her because i was feeding her proper food - kangaroo mince with beef liver, mostly, but when i left her there with my mother, probably my mother switched her over to lazy sterilised and grain filled foods and of course this led to her developing gingevitis and made her very cranky
mum sent her to the vet and she had an infected tooth extracted and came back so much more cuddly and friendly, to the point where she found it interfered with her hobby of knitting and spinning, with her demanding to occupy the lap where she needed space to do her textile things
anyway, point being that female medium hair fluffy cat with a hostile attitude towards people is often a sign of gingevitis, and the often protruding tongue is 100% certainty
so it will be nice to see how she responds over time
if it's effective and the folk at the shop and bar business there engage me about this because everyone sees me feeding her, they will inevitably, i will say "if you give her some scraps from steaks and stuff that is chewy it will keep her gums healthy" and perhaps this will greatly enhance her quality of life and make her even more of an icon of this little establishment
anyhow, it's so nice seeing a sick animal heal and get better and happier and become more pleasing to the people around
i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who "hate cats" just have been exposed to cats with sickness caused by this sterile/dry food garbage and probably more than a few cases of the cat being terrorised by some mean person, i mean psychopath, like whoever taugh Mochi to be afraid of rolled up umbrellas
i will agree, for my part, that many of the dogs that i have hated over the years have been neglected, no walks, bad food, chronic, untreated parasite infestations, lack of an actual guardian, no training
i think you can learn a lot about the health of a society by how the people's animals health and behaviour is
southern europe there is a lot of strays, both west and east, and the society has a grinding poverty underclass, as well, and very often those who keep those animals alive and sometimes get them medical help, are often the poor people
