People said i wasn't supposed to, so i was obligated to go create and X account, and a Bluesky account. Because 1. F them 2. I wanted to honestly asses the experience. 3. ive been off all mainstream platforms for years. i was curious.
I have to say, all ideological reasoning aside, X is a shitty experience. Just on its face. The way everything flows feels forced and controlled, the feeds are rammed into your face like youre the only pretty girl in a Frat bar. It feels like what you would have if AT&T or some other out of touch mega-corporation ran a social platform. I honestly dont know why anyone would build anything on there. And not just for the obvious rugpull potential. When you look at it objectively, its just not a great option. It feels... old, and corporate, and unfree.
Bluesky is better than X. Its like.... "oh this is fine." Its mildly interesting, it works pretty well, and is much more accessible that X. But when you start digging around in the spec, you find unnecessarily complex language. Like the kind of unnecessarily complex language you see when someone is trying to hide something. And what they are trying to hide is that they are intentionally keeping the core centralized for the purposes of control. Or at least that's my read. Its got communist style dishonestly at its core. Double speak.
There is nothing out there right now that offers anything remotely close to what nostr is offering as a protocol.
