Prior to today’s agreement in Syria between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Government, the Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), General Michael E. Kurilla, completed a four country tour of the Middle East, which included high-level meetings with senior officials in Israel, Jordan, Syria and Saudi Arabia. While in Syria between March 6-7, General Kurilla met with U.S. military commanders and servicemembers, as well as top officials with the SDF, likely including the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi. It’s believed that today’s agreement in Syria was discussed during these meetings as well as others, with it likely receiving direct approval from the United States.
