Six members of U.S. President Trump’s White House National Security Council (NSC) were fired earlier today, including Brian Walsh, the senior director for intelligence; Maggie Dougherty, the senior director for international organizations; and Thomas Boodry, the senior director for legislative affairs, following a meeting yesterday in the Oval Office between President Trump and far-right conspiracy theorist and well-known liar Laura Loomer, who laid out a list of people she believed were disloyal to the President and didn’t share his “America First” Vision. National Security Advisor Mike Walz later joined in the meeting and briefly defended some of his staff, though it was clear he had little if any power to protect their jobs from the ear of Trump and ramblings of Loomer. However, the main target of Loomer’s visit and someone who she as well as other far-right personalities have continuously lambasted on social media for weeks, Deputy National Security Advisor Alex Wong was not removed, at least as of yet.

Can anyone point me to a good comparison between the way DATUM works on @npub1qtv...7dze vs how Stratum V2 works on DMND pool?
I am getting the impression that the pool still has some control over which transactions are in a block in Stratum V2, and instead of the miner who finds the block submitting it directly to the network, they first submit it to the pool, who then submits it to the network. Is that correct?

The U.S. Stock Market today suffered its biggest loss since June 2020, with the Dow plunging almost 1,700 points, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 both plummeted 6% and 5% respectively; with loses believed to amount to over $2 Trillion. Today’s stock losses come as a reaction to yesterday’s announcement by U.S. President Donald J. Trump of a new wave of aggressive tariffs on countries across the world, which includes a 10% base tariff on all foreign goods entering America as well as much larger tariffs on countries which President Trump claims are “unfriendly trade partners” such as China who will now faces a 54% tariff on all exports to the United States.

The Israel Defense Force and Shin Bet announced earlier in a joint statement, that a precision-airstrike yesterday on a Hamas command-and-control center near Jabalia in Northern Gaza, resulted in the elimination of at least four terror operatives, including Shadi Diab Abd al-Hamid Falouji, a member of Hamas's East Jabalia Battalion who participated in the October 7th massacre in Southern Israel. Palestinian media claimed that the airstrike targeted a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) clinic killing at least 8, with no mention of any members of Hamas.

A Russian T-80 tank equipped with “turtle-style” armor—designed to defend against Ukrainian drones—and front wheels meant to trigger anti-tank mines prematurely. An ingenious system, but one that only works once.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is not only changing the way wars are fought but also reshaping the very design of armored vehicles.

Acting Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Defense, Steven A. Stebbins, notified Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth today that he has launched an investigation into him and other DoD personnel for last month’s Signalgate, referred to by Stebbins as the “use of an unclassified commercially available messaging application to discuss information pertaining to military actions in Yemen in March 2025.” The Inspector General states that the investigation will take place in Washington, D.C. and at the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Headquarters in Tampa, Florida, though more locations may be determined throughout the investigation. The Inspector General’s Office requests two points of contact from the Secretary of Defense for the duration of the investigation, a Government employee who is knowledgeable of the subject, and General/Flag Officer who is familiar with the subject and can act as point of engagement with the DoD Office of Inspector General.

@npub1jug...fc28's new Misty Breez wallet seems really interesting. Would not be surprised to see it replace Phoenix as my backup spending wallet for those inevitable times that my node is down when I am out and about. 😂
That said, at its base it is a Liquid wallet, which is how it achieves "Lightning without channels."
Can someone explain to me why the federated nature of Liquid is still considered "self-custody" in this context, but what seems to me a similar federated nature of a fedimint is considered custodial?
My understanding has always been, if there is a non-zero chance you could be rugged, then it is custodial. Liquid seems to have the same non-zero chance of being rugged as a fedimint, with the only difference being who are the signers in the federation, and the assumption that the ones in Liquid can be trusted more not to collude.
That sounds custodial to me.

After being hit with a 20% tariff from the U.S., Europe announced today that it will retaliate—just like China, which faced a 34% tariff on top of existing ones and vowed to do the same.
If these retaliatory tariffs move forward, Trump has promised even higher tariffs, potentially plunging the world's biggest economies into a 'global tariff war' that could trigger a severe economic crisis.
