Morning #nostr
I've been quiet lately. Finally migrated my raspberry pi to proxmox.
Got the #Bitcoin Super Node running
That's mine. 😉 #Proxmox rocks. It is a #Bitcoin #Nostr #ckeck_mk #node. Many more for the future. 👊

Is the firmware open-source? Why would one not trust pi bit trust this?

By trust, I meant by holding fund on LND. The drive attached to my pi crashed once while having pijuice attached to it. The pi was still alive but the drive gone 🥶 A good and reliable UPS is important

Why did by you trust pi? And why do you trust this one? I'd tge firmware open-source as opposed to pi or IRS just performance based opinion?

My Bitcoin Savior Complex
Last year, when the price of #Bitcoin was around 25k per coin, a good friend of mine told me I had to snap out of this and get out now if it’s high. Another friend of mine said that "people like me" don’t know how research is done. Another "friend" of mine actually called me on Messenger to make sure my Facebook account wasn’t hacked, then told me Bitcoin was a joke. What a slap in the face. I'm not laughing.
It's a shame how Bitcoin has become a partisan issue. It's a shame that people think Crypto and Bitcoin are the same thing. And it's a damn shame that we have discovered perfect money that can solve most of the world's problems, but no one will listen.
I now know why OG Bitcoiners don't spread the sound money gospel to their friends and family. They respond with ridicule, gaslighting tactics, and jealousy. They have to learn the hard way to shut up and let people find out on their own. Some people will never learn, and it's not for lack of intelligence. Their egos are the culprit in this tragic tale.
I do want the people I care about to escape the fiat matrix. Unfortunately, it is not our job to save anyone, and sometimes you just have to plant the seed and move on, hoping that it takes root and they find financial sovereignty.
💯

The normies will lose their minds and scramble onto the #Bitcoin train once it smashes through the $100K psychological barrier. Prepare for a glorious FOMO-fueled clown show.

Par level that is a milestone. There's a limit sell order wall above mark in most exchanges. Smash through that par level and induce major FOMO before liquidating the euphoric laggards.

El Salvador is the only country in the world with its own #Bitcoin Meme Pool site, where citizens can verify Bitcoin holdings themselves: https://bitcoin.gob.sv/it/
This is what real government transparency looks like—no need for some fucking third party audit from a government sponsored company.

That's fucking awesome.
This is the way.

How soon until we see a malicious #nostr app/browser extension? As it saves the nsec/npub to local storage it also sends it to the dev's api.
Or, a stored xss on a fav web client that has visitors blast spam kind 1 notes without them knowing as they have their signer set to always authorize.
I wouldn't doubt these scenarios will eventually occur if/as nostr grows. Stay vigilant.

They are all but guaranteed to occur. If they don't, Nostr is irrelevant.

If even the official website says so, monero may have hidden inflation problems.
I love how they are offended to read the truth they refuse to face 😂

The problem we have is not privacy: after all, we have cash that fulfills the problem of privacy. What we need is to separate the state from the money issuance. This is a much bigger problem than not being able to buy drugs online. A MoE that is incorruptible by the state fulfills this premise.

As this last pump has showed the vast majority of inflows into Bitcoin are coming in through highly centralized Entry points
Not to mention that Bitcoin as an Moe Is highly discouraged
So I feel like this isn't going to work out the way you think it is
4 days ago•••
Then, one needs to assume that Bitcoin is corruptible. That rests my case. Thanks.

theres an conversation on this point happening now.
heres a link and a pod if you're not just a maxi zealot idiot.

Thanks for the link – a good post.
Though I didn't find anything there that suggested that bitcoin is corruptible as it currently stands. We have a leadership problem that could be potentially exploited, and it is good that we are discussing these things now.
As for me, I vote with my node and hash power.
What I dislike is when folks downplay Bitcoin and cheer for monero; these are two different beasts with different directions and tradeoffs. I own both and appreciate both.

the point is that you dont have to compromise the network. Bitcoin will not scale and custodians will be necessary (obv they're already here). All that has to be done is control the custodians. Regulatory capture is a real thing.
Monero is still a small faster moving project and has different problems lol
nice to meet you.

I can't use cash to transact with anyone on the planet instantly and it has additional unique disadvantages over cryptocurrencies besides that.
I don't think you would ever say everyone should be ok with the government monitoring everything you say and do 24/7, so it's ridiculous to claim people only need private transactions to "buy drugs online". It's a strawman of the actual issues brought by not having private transactions. And it's directly related to seperating the state from money.
It's a tradeoff of supply-audit-design that is essential.
Privacy, while being one of the most important aspects of individual sovereignty, doesn't solve the problem of inflation debasement and centralized control of money issuance.
As stated in the Monero page above, Bitcoin solves this by providing an immutable public ledger that is currently the most secure decentralized network.
We have proposals that are pushed such as Bolt 12 that tackle the anonymity problem. It is not a a clearcut failure as monero folks push it to be while ignoring the other aspect of this.

Don’t be afraid of risk, embrace it.
Wanna know how risky life is? None of us are making it out alive.
What’s riskier? Buying bitcoin or not buying bitcoin? https://m.primal.net/MbSB.mov

Ok there, hold on. Now #bitcoin is American, just like Coca Cola? Isn't the US law responsible for imprisonment of many bitcoin devs? Isn't it the first in line trying to kill the FOSS ethos? Why do you, Americans, have to make everything about USA? Bitcoin was made to demolish statism through separation of state and money issuance; the only thing USA has had going for it since Breton Woods.

It just clicked.
Crypto bros are rebels without a cause.
Bitcoiners are rebelling with a cause.
The crypto people don’t get it.
They missed the part about “chancellor on the brink” and went straight to the tech stuff.
I’ve had so many inane conversations with crypto bros this week it’s knackering.
Hmm. I’d rather spend time with normies than crypto people.

This is what I kept repeating to the Monero cheerleaders. The inscription in the genesis block is telling us there's more to this than just privacy or scalability.

Maybe. 🤔 some people are on various journeys and we shouldn’t judge them …
We shouldn’t judge anyone but I hear you. It’s a human issue

I recently found out, in the bip-0039 word list, there is no god, only a goddess. So in Bitcoin we can't call it the "god-candle", but only the "goddess-candle". (or the satoshi candle)

Why did Hal Finney think #Bitcoin could hit $10 million per coin? With global wealth at $100-300 trillion and only 21 million coins, the math is wild! But why 20 million, not 21? What's your take on these odds - are they really 100 million to 1 against? #cryptocurrency #USDollar .
I guess due to rounding for easier division.
The odds of Bitcoin network becoming major settlement layer for most of worlds wealth are certainly higher, somewhere between 10000-100 to 1.
We agree it seems he was rounding! By what is your guess on the 21m?
It seems absurd that some figures pushing SoV narrative for #bitcoin intentially leave out the fact that bitcoin was foremost a tech that cut out the intermediaries. In fact, by solving the Byzantine General's Problem, the need for centralized models is left behind; those still pushing these outdated models are malaign or just too stupid.
